Commander: Cpt. Bill Reagan 1SG: 1SG Jame Washington
The Moatengators of A 1/508th had a long heritage of airborne operations going back to the days of 3/508th to being the only company on jump status when the battalion was redesigned 3/5th thru the transition to 2/187th and finally the 1/508th.
The "gators" were noted for their "gator pit" next to the barracks where one plus gators were kept as mascots. These gators were fed quite well and were involved in nearly every thing A Company did, to include airborne operations.
A Co would be part of the assault force going into Ft. Amador on D-Day of Operation "Just Cause". Gators would seize the barracks area along with their brothers from B Co.
