The Battalion would slow for a day in January 1990 to allow it's troopers to honor two Red Devils lost in the early hours of combat operations around the PDF HQ's, the Comandancia. Ceremonies for both the Memorial and for awarding of the Combat Infantry Badges would be conducted on Ft. Amador.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Colin Powell would arrive at Amador during those days to be briefed on operations.
While combat operation wrapped up pretty quickly after the invasion the paratroopers of the 1/508th would continue with in country trips up to and around the city of David. In February C Co. would lead the effort to the "interior" as it was often referred too, with an airborne operation on to a drop zone full of cattle, fortunately all the cattle were friendly so no action on the DZ and all cattle survived.
